Study provides first balance after the start of the E -Tretroller

For two weeks, electrically powered trollers (scooters) have been allowed to drive on the road. The sad balance: last week alone in Berlin, there were two accidents involving up to 20 km /h fast electric vehicles. Critics and accident investigators should feel confirmed in their warnings.

It was not only serious accidents that were warned in advance. But also before "mountains of electrical waste" on the roads and pavements and a "cannibalisation" of public transport. The latter two points cannot be confirmed after the first two weeks since legalisation. This suggests at least a data analysis of the Hamburg consulting institute Civity, which has a daily mirror background.

1,8 to 2,8 kilometers, e -trollerfans usually put back on the small flickers. The Scooters are mainly used in the city centre, often by tourists who already know the vehicles from other countries, as the authors of the study suspect on the basis of the Heatmaps they have evaluated. This is what analysts call a data visualization that shows where especially many vehicles are travelling. In Berlin, for example, this is around the victory column, an area where not many Berliners usually travel.

Just a hype with no big consequences?

In terms of distances, the consultants conclude that the sharing providers are in direct competition with bicycles (in section 3,4 kilometers) and pedestrians (0,9 kilometers). It is possible for passengers to get on an E -Tretroller instead of by bus and train, "but negligible in total volume". From the point of view of the consultants, the scooters do not create any great advantages or a serious threat to public transport.

The mobility consultancy has evaluated the data from four sharing providers: Voi, Tier, Circ and Lime. Everyone is active in Berlin. They provide access to the data of their vehicles via (partially) open programming interfaces. At the moment of automated query, all non -in -use scooters and their location are recorded by the provider as visibly switched on scooters. In addition, the analysts have regularly checked the positions of the vehicles in different cities as well as the charging status of the batteries and then determined from the position data the movement per scooter. Not all sharing companies provide open data or open interfaces.

In Berlin, according to Civity data, the U.S. company Lime is more than 1000 -vehicle supplier with the majority of vehicles, followed by the Swedish start -up Voi (875) and the Berlin company Tier (638). The data was last updated on 26. June! For Circ, only the number of vehicles for the Ruhr town of Herne, where the company started first, could be determined.

The cities are roller hotspots

According to the data, the animal has entered the market most aggressively. Throughout the country, the company, financed by more than 32 million US dollars, has brought to the streets within a few days nearly 3000 of its blue and green rollers, followed by the US competitor Lime with about 1500 rollers. Tier is active in Germany as well as in Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt a.M. and Munich and, according to its own information, profitable in its core markets. Some suppliers had announced in advance that they would start not only in large but also in medium -sized cities between 150.000 and 200.000 inhabitants. No evidence of this can be found in the evaluation so far.

Another result of the study: On average the vehicles were moved 2,2 to 3,3 times a day, as an evaluation of the Voi and Circ rollers in Paris shows. However, it cannot be distinguished whether the movement is made by a user or a Disponent. To make money on the job, that might not be enough.

Around five times a day a scooter has to be borrowed, if it is to be expected after almost four months, the Boston Consulting Group has identified in a study.

This first balance therefore does not allow the bidders to be properly rounded. In addition, the Berlin Transport Administration is already considering stricter rules for providers after the first accidents. For example, this could be an upper limit for rollers in Berlin, a Senate speaker told the daily mirror.(徳囯ASK电容器)
